Dr. B and his team have taken the time to make sure every contact with your kiddo/s is top notch! They are genuine, trustworthy, and provide the highest quality service. Everything is kid oriented! My kids love the dentist thanks to Dr. B and his team.

He is amazing and the staff is so sweet. They have kids in mind from the moment you walk through the front door til the time you leave. He pulled my daughters tooth so discretely that even I was unaware it happened. She thought it was a magic trip. We love Dr. B this is his calling.

My son became a patient of Dr. B at age of 3 and has remained his patient continuously until he turned 18 years old. We would never have even considered another dentist in all those years. Dr. B and his entire staff are phenomenal! You will never find a more knowledgeable, kind, caring, attentive, or compassionate dentist. When you weigh your choices in pediatric dentistry, there is only one correct choice — DR. B!

Dr Blen and his staff are so amazing. My 3 kids can never wait to see Dr Blen. What awesome experiences we have at the dentist! My only wish is that he will accept adult patients too. Ha!

First Pediatric Dental Visit

Are you looking for a children’s dentist in Memphis, TN?

As parents, we take our children to pediatricians because they are children specialists. Their extra special training allows them to limit their practice to meet the very special needs of our children. A pediatric dentist is the equivalent to your pediatrician in dentistry. A pediatric dentist has years of extra training even after they have become a general dentist. Come see what a great experience children’s dentistry should be by scheduling your child’s first dental appointment with Dr. B!

The first visit to the dentist can be the most important in your child’s life. Say something like, “Dr. B will show you lots of new and fun things to make your teeth sparkle and help you have a pretty smile.”

If your children ask searching questions, explain that Dr. B and his staff will tell them what he’s going to do, show them how he’ll do it, and then will actually do it. Be sure to tell them if they have any questions to ask Dr. B and staff. The earlier the dental visit, the better the chance of preventing dental disease.

Please Don’t Bee List

1) Bribe your child into going to the dentist.
2) Use a dental visit as a form of punishment.
3) Use words like “needle,” “shot,” “drill”.
4) Let the child know you feel any anxiety about visiting the dentist.
5) Let anyone tell your child scary stories about dental visits.

Accompanying Your Child

You may access the following New Patient Forms prior to your visit. Please print and fill out the desired forms, then bring them to our office.

Once here, one adult is welcome to accompany the child into the operatory; however, this is not required. If you have other children with you not being seen at that time, they must remain in the reception room with adult supervision. While our staff love children, we cannot be responsible for their welfare in the reception room.

What really goes on in the operatory

Once in the operatory, Dr. B will review your child’s medical and dental history. The health history includes an assessment of your child’s diet and nutrition, fluoride adequacy, oral habits, past injuries or trauma, oral development and oral hygiene. Dr. B will gently examine your child’s teeth, oral tissues, and jaws. He will provide preventive information or recommendations to you regarding your child’s diet, nutrition, fluoride and oral habits. If your child has a sufficient number of teeth erupted, Dr. B will recommend a subsequent appointment for a cleaning and topical fluoride treatment.

“Good job!”

At the end of the appointment, Dr. B will tell your child how proud he is of him or her, and your child will receive a prize.

Pediatric Dentistry

What is a Pediatric Dentist?

A Pediatric Dentist, like Dr. B, is a specialist dedicated to the oral health of children and the monitoring of their facial growth and development. Our office is designed for treating children from infancy through adolescence, as well as the medically and the physically compromised. In our opinion, taking your child to see a pediatric dental specialist is as important as taking them to see a pediatrician.

What is a Board Certified Pediatric Dentist?

When a Pediatric Dentist is Board Certified it means that the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry or ABPD certifies that the dental care being provided is based on standards of excellence that lead to high quality oral health care for infants, children, adolescents and patients with special health care needs. Certification by the ABPD provides assurance to the public that a Pediatric Dentist like Dr. B. has successfully completed accredited training and a voluntary examination process designed to continually validate the knowledge, skills and experience necessary to deliver quality patient care.

Establishing Your Child’s Dental Home

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including…

  • Comprehensive oral health care including acute care and preventive services.
  • Individualized preventive dental health program based upon a caries-risk assessment.
  • Anticipatory guidance regarding growth and development.
  • Plan for acute dental trauma (emergencies).
  • Dietary counseling.
  • Referrals to dental specialists when care cannot directly be provided within the dental home.
  • Referral at an age determined by patient, parent, and pediatric dentist.
